Who we are
Black Credits (blackcredits.com) is an independent research and media project about opportunities for Black American actors. “We” and “us” mean Black Credits. To reach us about privacy, use the contact form.
What we collect, and why
- Newsletter: your email address, the date you signed up, and which part of the site you signed up from. We use it only to send the Release Radar newsletter.
- Member accounts: your email, display name and a securely hashed password (we never see or store the password itself), plus anything you choose to do on the site, such as saved films, votes, campaign memberships and submissions.
- Messages to us: what you send through the Work with us or correction forms, including your name, organization and email, so we can reply.
- Visit statistics: anonymous page-view counts (pages, referring sites, country, device type) through Vercel Web Analytics. It uses no cookies and doesn't identify you.
We do not collect payment information, and we don't use advertising trackers.
Cookies
We set one cookie, only if you sign in, to keep you signed in. It is required for your account to work. We use no advertising or tracking cookies.
Who processes your information for us
- Vercel hosts the website and provides the anonymous visit statistics.
- Neon hosts our database.
- beehiiv sends the newsletter, if you subscribe.
They handle data only to provide these services to us.
What we never do
- We never sell or rent your personal information.
- We never share it with sponsors or advertisers. Sponsors see only overall numbers, such as total subscribers.
- We never publish your email address.
People in our research
Our research covers public figures in film and television. We record only publicly documented, sourced information, never infer anyone's identity or ancestry, and never profile minors. Anyone can ask us to review or correct a record through our corrections process.
How long we keep it
Newsletter addresses stay until you unsubscribe (every email has a one-click link). Account data stays while your account exists. Messages to us are kept as long as needed to handle them.
Your choices and rights
You can unsubscribe at any time, and you can ask us to show you, correct or delete the personal information we hold about you by contacting us through the contact form. Depending on where you live, such as California, you may have additional rights under local law; we honor those requests.
Children
The site is not intended for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their information.
Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top of this page.
